Negar Nemati is an award-winning costume designer whose international career encompasses both stage and screen across a wide range of genres. A graduate of Tehran University of Fine Arts, she brings over 17 years of experience collaborating with some of the most celebrated directors in contemporary cinema, including Asghar Farhadi, Mani Haghighi, and Matthew Rankin and internationally acclaimed theatre director, Amir Reza Koohestani.
Renowned for crafting visually striking and narratively driven designs, Negar’s work is distinguished by meticulous attention to detail and a deep understanding of atmosphere and storytelling.
Most recently, she was nominated for Best Canadian Costume Designer in an International Feature Film at the 2026 CAFTCAD Awards for Seven Days. For her work on Universal Language, she received the 2025 Canadian Screen Award for Achievement in Costume Design and the 2025 CAFTCAD Award for Best Costume Design in a Fictional Feature Film. She was previously nominated for a CAFTCAD Award for her work on Asghar Farhadi’s A Hero, which won the Grand Prix at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival. Her collaborations with Mani Haghighi on Modest Reception, A Dragon Arrives! and Pig -the latter premiering in competition at the 68th Berlinale-highlight her imaginative range and have alsoearned her multiple awards.
